In practice

Showcase what works

Report on programs, organizations, and interventions that have successfully supported survivors. Detail how these solutions work and the impact they have on individuals, families, and communities.

Look for the systems

Including the role of systems in survivor stories can show the importance of social services, community resources, and legal protections. It can also reveal whether those systems are serving survivors and their families as intended.

Challenge misconceptions

Reporting on resilience and solutions helps your audience shift from viewing survivors solely as victims to recognizing them as individuals with agency and strength.

“When I talk about my experience, it can be really heavy. People want not necessarily a happy ending, but they want to know that they can do something about it."
